| EVEN MORE WUSHU RECOGNITION IN NORWAY! |
| |
Now I think it's safe to say that Wushu have achieved FULL government recognition in
Norway.
Yesterday I got a letter from the Mayor of Oslo (my hometown and the capitol of Norway)
saying I have been awarded the City of Oslo's sports scholarship 2010. The award ceremony
will be in our City hall with a couple of thousand spectators during a big show including several
sports awards. In fact, the City hall of Oslo is where the Nobel peace prize winner gets
his/her award and hold the peace speech so plenty of history there.
Photo of the City hall can be found here:

So how is it possible for a small sport as Wushu that have only existed in Norway for 7 years
to achieve this recognition? Because of hard work by two men that love our sport! I've always
known myself that if I'd train more in stead of spend all the time I'm doing promoting Wushu I
would probably have a higher standard. But I have always thought of what's best for the
future of Wushu in Norway and sacrificed my own training so that the next generation of
athletes wouldn't have to go through all the struggles I had to go through.
I hope and believe that this means the next generation of National Wushu champions will get
the recognition they deserve, and that my effort in promoting Wushu up to the highest
political level and to media broadcasters have succeeded also for the upcoming athletes.
Only 3-4 years ago nobody in Norway except 2-300 athletes even knew the term Wushu
(nor Kung Fu for that matter), but now we actually regularly have media coverage and we
get awards and trophies from both Mayors and His Majesty The King of Norway.
So to all the people out there saying Wushu is not made for public interest or complaining
about the lack of government support:
DO IT YOURSELF! HARD WORK HELPS! HELP THE NEXT GENERATION! WUSHU DO HAVE A
PUBLIC APPEAL! NEVER GIVE UP! COOPERATE WITH YOUR CHINESE EMBASSY! BE
PROFESSIONAL IN YOUR MARKETING!
Best wishes,
